The senator representing Ogun East senatorial
district, Buruji Kashamu, has accused the Chairman of the National Caretaker
Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, of plotting to
destabilise the party in the South-west.
In a letter to Makarfi, Kashamu kicked against the plan by the national leadership
of the party to hold a national convention in December.
He said rather than reconciling the factions in
the Ogun State chapter of the party, Makarfi chose to take side with one of the
factions.
The senator said the problems in the South-west
PDP was caused by the complications of Makarfi’s desire to compensate his
“unpopular supporters in the zone during his litigations against Ali Modu
Sheriff.”
Kashamu stated that just like Sheriff, Makarfi is nursing a presidential ambition, and warned him not to allow his ambition destroy the party.
