NO FEE IS PAUD TONHOST BYRNA BOY IN RIVERS STATE.

NO FEE IS PAID TO HOST BURNA BOY -- RIVERS STATE GOVT

Rivers State Government says it is not true that Burna Boy or his management is placing any demands on Government as a pre condition for honouring  its planned Home Coming event.

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Mrs Tonye Briggs Oniyide made the clarification today in Port Harcourt while briefing newsmen on the preparations
She said " my attention has been drawn to comments on a social media handle alleging that Burna Boy has asked the State government to pay him certain sums of money before honouring the reception being planned for him in Port Harcourt. That comment is very unfair, wicked and provocative."

The Commissioner further said "at no time have we received such requests and it is most unfair that people sit in their closets to use their handles to say wrong things about people", emphasising that Burna Boy appreciates the good intentions of the State government in hosting him to a grand reception.

"Burna Boy has made Rivers State proud. He has brought international focus to our unique art forms, our personality, our identity and our progress as a State. No amount of smear campaign can stop his shine", she said.

Mrs Oniyide also said that the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is happy with the Grammy Award winner and will be leading the people of Rivers State to honour him on Saturday.
